Klamath River Fish Report for 5-19-2009

Despite the 90 plus degree temperatures the fishing remains hot on the Klamath River and at Trout Lake. Saturday, my Dad, my Son and I caught and released 17 nice 1 to 2.5 pound Eagle Lake Trout all while trolling Seps grubs very slowly along bottom. On Monday, my clients Dave and his son Ryan of Yreka, caught and released 15 Steely/Trout while fishing from the Hatchery to the Klamathon bridge. They easily had 30 fish on during the day but the Steely/Trout were able to spit barbless hook before being landed, many of them by jumping 1 to 3 feet out of the water. The Rebel crawdad plug and or a whole threaded nightcrawler behind a Luhr Jensen Jet diver were the tickets to getting hooked up. The hot weather should stimulate the Salmonflies to begin hatching along the Klamath River. I expect within the next 10 days to start seeing them.
